Achieva Credit Union Provides $15,000 Classroom Grants

LARGO, FL – February 28, 2011 – Achieva Credit Union’s two Community Fundraising events in 2010 provided 15 recipients from Pinellas County Schools, $1,000 each in classroom grants.
Achieva received 96 grant applications from teachers throughout Pinellas County. They were asked to tell Achieva in 500 words or less how they would use the $1,000 grant to promote financial literacy in their classroom. A Selection Committee from Achieva reviewed the applications and decided on the 15 winners. Four of the Selection Committee members attended the Pinellas County School Board Meeting on Tuesday, February 22nd and presented Certificates to those recipients who were in attendance.

“It is so exciting to see the process of planning a fundraiser and actually being able to meet the teachers who receive the end result” said Debbie Ciechowski, Liquidation Specialist “It makes all the work we put into our fundraisers really worthwhile” added Lindsay Hiers, IS & T Specialist, and Kathy Keim, Information Services Specialist. Debbie, Lindsay and Kathy were also on the Selection Committee.
Achieva recently held their 2nd Annual Scrapbook Crop and is gearing up to plan their 2nd Annual Box Car Rally to be held in September, 2011. “The Scrapbook Crop was even bigger and better than last year, and we are expecting the same for the Box Car Rally, so we should have more grant money to award in 2012” stated Gary Regoli, President/CEO of Achieva Credit Union.
