CLEARWATER, FL – June 15, 2011: Achieva Credit Union recently awarded $10,000 in college scholarships to ten finalists of the 2011 Achieva Scholarship Program. Lindsay Cooney, Erica Danielle Gerhard, Eboni Hardy, Julie Tickle Hunt, Valiece Tiara Long, Emma Loucks, Miguel Reyes, Nicolas Parker Swanson, Kailey Williams, and Elizabeth Woods, and each received $1,000 to help further their college education. The scholarships were awarded Monday, June 13, 2011, at a luncheon held in their honor and attended by the winners, their guests, Achieva Scholarship Committee members and Achieva Senior Management. Gary Regoli, President/CEO stated: “Achieva has a very rich heritage within the educational community. We are truly proud to award these scholarships, and wish all of the winners much success in their future endeavors.”
Achieva received over 100 applications to the Scholarship Program. To be considered, each student submitted a detailed application, a school transcript, two letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors or school administrators, and a 250-500 word essay. The essay topic was how they would help promote the ideals of the credit union motto of “not for profit, not for charity, but for service.” Achieva’s Scholarship Committee agreed that it was a difficult task selecting the ten winners from the pool of applications received.
