Achieva Credit Union Raises over $15,000 at Box Car Rally for Pinellas County Classrooms!

CLEARWATER, FL – September 11, 2010 – Achieva Credit Union held its Box Car Rally Fundraiser in Clearwater, Florida, on September 11, 2010.

The Box Car Rally took place on a 600 foot racetrack running from N. Osceola Avenue down Cleveland Street in Clearwater. The fun filled, family community event featured 37 racing participants with 34 cars in four different racing classes, Pee Wee, Teen, Adult and Corporate. Award trophies were given to each winner and runner up in a ceremony after each racing category.

The community at large enjoyed entertainment for the children, music, local vendors, The Rays Street Team along with Raymond, and a dunk tank, whose main attraction was Pinellas County’s Superintendent of Schools, Julie Janssen and Deputy Superintendent James Madden.

“The Box Car Rally was a fantastic fundraising opportunity sponsored by Achieva Credit Union.  Students found there are ways to do things outside of the classroom relevant to what they do every day in the classroom.  It was a fun filled activity enjoyed by families and community members which will benefit all our students” said Janssen.

Many sponsors helped make this event successful and Achieva is especially grateful to our main sponsor, Clear Channel Radio Tampa Stations 103.5, 98 Rock, 620 WDAE Mix 100.7, 970 WFLA and 93.3 WFLZ for all their advertising.  Proceeds from the Box Car Rally and a previous Achieva Scrapbook Crop held in February, will go to Pinellas County Classrooms through the Pinellas Education Foundation grant program.
“We are proud with the turnout and success of our first annual Box Car Rally” said Gary Regoli, President and CEO, Achieva Credit Union.  “We know that next year will be even bigger and better since everyone knows about it now and some are already making plans to build their box cars so they’ll be ready to roll.”
