Achieva Credit Union Opens New Branch at Sarasota County Technical Institute (SCTI)

5/30/2013 2:34:30 PM

SARASOTA – Achieva Credit Union today opened its newest branch on the campus of the Sarasota County Technical Institute (SCTI) in Sarasota, and with the Sarasota County School District launched a new web-based system connecting community partners and Sarasota County schools called ‘Team Up!’. This is the first branch Achieva has opened on a technical school campus, bringing the total to four branches in Sarasota County. The SCTI branch, which is open to the public, is run by Achieva professionals who work with SCTI teachers and students. Students can intern at the branch to gain real-world experience, learning business practices, marketing and finance skills.

“The Sarasota County Technical Institute is proud of its efforts to partner with local employers to meet their workforce development needs,” said Todd Bowden, Executive Director of Career, Technical and Adult Education for Sarasota County Schools. “One of our newest partnerships is the Achieva Credit Union Branch here on the campus of SCTI. This initiative is designed to provide work experience for our students as they develop the skills needed to enter the workforce.”

At the branch opening guests dined on breakfast and refreshments provided by the SCTI Culinary Institute, received special offers for joining Achieva Credit Union and took a tour of the new branch and the Team Up! website (www.TeamUpSCS.org). Achieva is a sponsor of the Team Up! website and supports the connections  this tool facilitates for Sarasota County schools and local businesses.

“We are excited to support such a great tool that will make it easy for businesses and community partners to connect and give back to schools,” said Achieva President and Chief Executive Officer Gary Regoli.  “It’s important for us to have this connection in the communities where we do business.”

“We’re pleased that Achieva is sponsoring the Team Up! project,” said Lori White, Superintendent of Sarasota County Schools. “We’re confident that the website will inspire other current and future business partners, volunteers and donors. The combination of a user-friendly website, supportive businesses and organizations, and the business and volunteer coordinators at our schools will make it easier than ever for caring community members to ‘team up’ with our schools.”

The SCTI Achieva Credit Union branch is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is located at 4748 Beneva Road, Sarasota.
