Secure your cash with up to $15M in protection

You work hard for your money. Knowing your deposits are protected is priceless.

At Achieva Credit Union, deposits up to $250,000 are insured through the National Credit Union Association (NCUA). But what if your savings exceed that threshold? Achieva members can now open an Extended Insurance Account with up to $15 million of NCUA insurance* at no cost for additional coverage. Enjoy the extra peace of mind, along with the added convenience, competitive rates, and personalized service you expect from Achieva.

How it works

With Achieva’s Extended Insurance Account, excess deposits are automatically distributed in amounts of $250,000 or less across a network of partner credit unions. This structure helps ensure that your funds remain within standard NCUA insurance limits while providing up to $15 million* in total coverage.

Best of all, the account is managed seamlessly through your Achieva membership. There is no need to maintain multiple logins or track separate statements —everything is handled behind the scenes, keeping your funds secure, accessible, and convenient to manage.

A member with a balance of $1,000,000 would keep $250,000 in their Achieva account while the rest would be distributed in $250,000 increments to other participating credit unions.

What is an Extended Insurance Account?
An Extended Insurance Account provides millions of dollars of extended NCUA insurance on your deposits by distributing your balances in amounts of $250,000 or less to partner credit unions in the ModernFi network. By placing excess funds in increments of $250,00 or less, your entire balance can fully be insured by the NCUA. These accounts combine to provide you with extended insurance coverage.

How do Extended Insurance Accounts work?
With Achieva’s Extended Insurance Account, excess deposits are automatically split into portions below $250,000 and distributed among a network of partner credit unions. This ensures every portion remains within NCUA insurance limits while expanding coverage up to $15 million* total per member. Best of all, you manage your funds through your Achieva membership. There is no hassle with multiple logins or separate statements. Everything operates in the background, keeping your funds protected and accessible.

Who can open an Extended Insurance Account?
Business, personal, and nonprofit members seeking added protection for large deposits while maintaining a single banking relationship with Achieva Credit Union.

What is ModernFi?
ModernFi is a credit union network that Achieva joined to help protect your balances by distributing funds across partner institutions for extended NCUA share insurance.

Which other credit unions will my funds be placed with?
ModernFi, our deposit network provider, partners with credit unions in good regulatory standing and complies with all Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Customer requirements. ModernFi only places deposits with US-based NCUA-insured credit unions that are monitored by a U.S. federal or state government agency responsible for supervising financial institutions.

Will I still have access to my funds?
Yes, you will have full visibility and access to your deposits through the member portal in Achieva’s Online Banking system. You control the account just like a regular transaction account. The portal allows you to view your balance and request withdrawals from your Extended Insurance account. If you would like to deposit funds, you can do so directly with Achieva’s branch team. Achieva manages and oversees your allocation. We ensure funds are distributed to demand deposit accounts within your network of credit unions.

What are the benefits of an Extended Insurance Account?

  •    Expanded federal protection backed by the NCUA
  •    One relationship – no extra logins or accounts
  •    Transparency on where your funds are placed
  •    Dividends are earned on your total balance
  •    Support for community-based and mission-driven credit unions

Can I earn dividends on my Extended Insurance Account?
Yes. Dividends accrue on your entire balance, including funds at partner credit unions.

What are the fees for the Extended Insurance Program?
One of the best features of the Extended Insurance Program is that it is completely free to members. The cost of this added insurance is covered by Achieva, so you get the benefits of extended coverage without paying anything extra. This is part of Achieva’s ongoing commitment to provide exceptional value and peace of mind to each member.

Where are my funds held?
Your membership stays with Achieva Credit Union. Partner placements happen behind the scenes to extend your insurance, and your daily banking routines remain the same.

How secure are Extended Insurance Accounts?
Extended Insurance Accounts offer robust security, safeguarding funds up to $250,000 per member at each participating credit union through NCUA insurance. Since 1970, no member has lost NCUA-insured funds from a credit union failure. In the rare event of a failure, the NCUA settles deposit claims, and funds are typically disbursed within a few business days. Achieva and ModernFi ensure all required filings are completed to ensure prompt payment.

*Insurance provided through Achieva Credit Union and partnering credit unions (subject to certain conditions).
Funds participating in the Achieva Extended Insurance Account are deposited into accounts at participating credit unions, which are insured by the National Credit Union Association (NCUA) for up to $250,000 for each category of legal ownership, including any other balances you may hold directly or through other intermediaries, including brokerdealers. The total amount of NCUA insurance for your account depends on the number of credit unions in the program. If the balance in your account is greater than the NCUA insurance coverage in the program, any excess funds will not be insured. Please read the Program Terms and Conditions carefully before depositing money into the program, and for other important customer disclosures and information. To assure your NCUA coverage, please regularly review credit unions in which your funds have been deposited and notify Achieva immediately if you do not want to allocate funds to a particular credit union or credit unions.
